FAQ

What are Porch-Traits?

A porch-trait session is a 15 minute session and is done outside of your home. Each session will produce 2-5 digital images that will be placed in an online gallery. Print Packages are available at an additional cost. These sessions are meant to be a quick for a few family portraits. I created this particular offering in lieu of COVID and I wanted to make sure people still had the opportunity to have portraits taken.

When should I book my session?

In general a 2-4 week notice for any shoot is preferred. Here's a break down session by session!

Maternity - My recommendation for maternity sessions is booking between 30 - 36 weeks. This will usually result in the most flattering photographs as your bump will be nice and round at this stage, but not so heavy that you feel overly tired and uncomfortable. BUT I encourage you to do what is most comfortable for you.

Newborn - Newborn sessions should be booked at least two months before baby makes their debut. I love to have ample time to talk about themes and buy any backdrops/props we may need for the session. Newborn sessions unlike other sessions call for extreme flexibility since babies come when they are well and ready. Once they arrive the window for those sweet sleepy photos is a short 2-3 weeks. I will NOT book newborn sessions after 3 weeks.

Family - Outdoor family sessions with Jayana LaFotos can be booked between March-October. Family sessions tend to be much easier to plan so a minimum two week notice is required. Studio sessions are reserved for Newborn-1 Year sessions year round.

Where are you based and do you travel?

I'm based in Troy, NY and yes I love to travel! If you want me to photograph your story, it will require a travel fee, depending on where it takes place.

When will we get our photos?

You will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within maximum 3 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season I photograph your story). You can download all the photos from the gallery but also share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints!

What kind of photographer are you?

I like to categorize myself as a lifestyle/portrait photographer. Minimalist styling for sessions is my strong suit with this quote in mind; "Minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we most value & the removal of anything that detracts from that". I am not keen on boisterous props that take away from the actual subject. The goal is to create timeless portraits for you to enjoy no matter the holiday, time or season.
