The Mission
Giving children the opportunity to explore portrait photography through facilitated conversations and hands on learning. Teaching children grades K-12th grade the art of portrait photography. I plan on giving the children basic knowledge about cameras and simple editing skills. Teaching them how to use multiple devices for photography and making due with whatever they have available to them. Also taking time to dive into the importance of emotional intelligence through art and entrepreneurship.
The children will receive lessons in portrait photography and basic skills in Lightroom editing. They will be required to write a poem or story to accompany each portrait they take. The photo projects given to the children will be rooted in learning about themselves and their peers. Ultimately teaching them about emotional intelligence and the importance of story telling through photography. They will learn how powerful their voices and stories are. They will learn how important advocacy for ones self is and how art can make it easier to tell a story. My hope is for each class or child is to have the chance to display their work in the form of printed images or a class book.
